Tripoli (ANN) Saif al-Islam Gadafi, son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, said in an interview broadcast on Turkish television that his family would remain in Libya. In the recording made
Thursday evening in Tripoli, Saif al-Islam said his family would not allow “a bunch of terrorists” to take control of the North African country.
“We have a plan A, plan B, and plan C: live and die in Libya,” Gaddafi’s son said, answering a question about the possibility that his family might leave the country due to pressure from the opposition, which is said to control eastern Libya.
Saif al-Islam also said that the situation in his country is different from the situation in Tunisia and Egypt because Libya’s instability was caused by terrorist groups.
He added that they are not fighting against the Libyan people, but against those terrorist groups, and denied versions of snipers shooting at protesters.
Gaddafi’s son also confirmed that the cities of Zawiya and Misrata cities were controlled by opponents, and that they had proclaimed themselves Islamic Emirates in Beyda and Derne cities.
Regarding the death toll, he said that the number given by the international media on clashes between protesters and security forces were “ridiculous,” and said 242 people had died so far.
