Cairo (ANN) Egyptian President Mahmoud Mursi’s political adviser held a secret meeting with the Iranian commander of the Quds Force last week to learn from the Iranians how to control and take over the security forces, according to reports.
A secret meeting was held last week between Egyptian presidential advisor Issam al-Haddad and Qassem Suleimani, the commander of an elite unit of the Revolutionary Guards according to the report in Wednesday’s Egyptian paper Al-Masry Al-Youm, says The Jerusalem Post.
The paper quotes anonymous security sources that say that the Iranians sought to help Egypt develop their intelligence services.
Muslim Brotherhood members at the meeting wanted to apply the lessons learned by Iran and apply it to Egypt.
The paper also stated that the reason for the removal of Egypt’s former interior minister was because he opposed the secret meeting.
Egypt denied that the meeting took place, but the meeting was also reported by the British paper, The Times.
Meanwhile, the Iranian Fars News Agency reported that its FM was going to make an official visit to Cairo to discuss regional issues and the expansion of ties.
